FRISCO, TX--I am in Frisco for the title game and had a busy afternoon today with intereviews and press conferences. I did get a chance to tour the FC Dallas Stadium as well. What a fabulous facilty this is after getting a chance to walk around the field.

FARGO, N.D.--I am in the Fargodome for the final quarterfinal game pitting the Mountain Hawks against the Bison. All the news is about the suspension of Ryan Spadola for his comments on his Twitter account.

Even without him, I think Chris Lum will be able to pass it against the Bison defense but the key will be if they can score touchdowns or field goals. NDSU's defense becomes very stingy againt their opponents inside the red zone.

FARGO, ND--I am in the Fargodome for today's game between two of the top three ranked teams in the polls. NDSU is ranked #2 in the latest Gridiron Index Poll (GPI) and Northern Iowa is ranked #3. Georgia Southern is ranked #1 currently but also has a big game this week against Appalachian State, the #6 ranked team in the GPI.

This game should be a defensive struggle if we go by the statistics so far. NDSU is the top ranked scoring defense and UNI is #2.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--I am at the new University of Minnesota TCF Bank Stadium. One note is that the press box is in the far east end zone so it offers a unique siteline.

This game between the Bison and the Gophers is one that Minnesota is looking for revenge after NDSU upset the Gophers in 2007 27-21. Minnesota won the 2006 contest by blocking a field goal attempt as time expired 10-9.

I am getting ready for the West battle of the Missouri Valley vs. the Big Sky last remaining playoff participants. I dubbed this the West championship game in my column this week and likely the winner of this game will play Villanova--in Cheney if EWU wins since they are a seed--No. 5. Villanova is leading #1 seed Appalachian State 42-24 at this point with just under 8:00 left in the fourth quarter. It would be unclear if NDSU or Villanova would host their clash if they would both win but one ...
