UNI will also need to solve the power running game. It seems Iowa can get 4-5 yards on any given play.
Here are some stats at the halftime break:
TOTAL YARDS: 214 yards for Iowa, 186 for UNI
RUSHING YARDS: 108 yards for Iowa, 53 for UNI
PASSING YARDS: 133 for UNI, 106 for Iowa
3RD DOWN CONVERSIONS: 1-of-4 for UNI, 5-of-6 for Iowa
That last stat is the most telling. All but one of the 3rd down plays was a short yardage situation. Getting some stops of the running game on 1st & 2nd down.
We are just about to start the 2nd half and still think UNI has what it takes but likely this first drive, which will be Iowa's will be critical to get a stop for the Panthers.
Two yard loss on the screen pass. Iowa won't run another play. Halftime.
Iowa 17 UNI 13.
Just about how I thought it would go in the first half. UNI needs to get some stops on defense or force some turnovers to win though.
Weisman is the running back still for Iowa and gets 12 on the ground and then gets a swing pass for a yard on the next play out to the 22. He also fumbled but recovered it himself. Time out Iowa. 0:43 left in the opening half.
Great punt by Kyle Bernard of 70 yards. It is returned for 10 back to the Iowa 11. 1:11 left in the opening half.

The Iowa kickoff is returned by Smith of UNI to the UNI 21. UNI will have 2:41 to try to get a score before the half.
The 2nd & goal play is a pass to Fiedorowicz that is just too far on the right side. The third down play is on the left side of the field to Davis that is too wide as well.
Mike Meyer kicks a 24 yard field goal to extend the Iowa lead back to four.
Iowa 17 UNI 13 with 2:46 left in the 2nd qtr.
Weisman gets a 21 yard reception as he bowls over some UNI players on the play. He might be just what Iowa needs.
1st & goal for Iowa at the UNI 4. Vandenberg fumbles the snap on the 1st down play but the Hawkeyes recover for a two yard loss.
Weisman is the running back now for Iowa. He gets six on the 2nd down play to set up a 3rd & 15 from the 25. Tavaughn Blair was banged up for UNI on the playf.
Garmon is a quicker back for Iowa but this seems to suit the Panther defense better. Garmon is hurt on this 1st & 20 play but does not look too serious after losing a yard on the play.
2nd & 21 from the 31 for Iowa. We have 5:08 left in the opening half.
Iowa going with the hurry-up offense. Two runs by Garmon have the Hawkeyes has Iowa down to the UNI 20.
A holding call on the 1st & 10 play sends Iowa back to the UNI 30. 1st & 20 from there for Iowa.
The second down play is a big pass catch by Martin-Manley for the Hawkeyes to the UNI 34.
Greg Garmon is the running back for the Hawkeyes. He is targeted on a swing pss but can't handle the pass. 2nd & 10 for Iowa. UNI calls their second timeout before the 2nd down play.
The UNI kickoff is sent back to the Iowa one yard line but is returned out to the Hawkeye 40.
That would have been good to get a TD there for the Panthers. We will see how the Iowa offense is what seems to be without their power back Bullock.
The 3rd down pass by Kollmorgen is knocked away.
Sievertsen in for a 22-yard attempt and its good. UNI brings the score within a point.
Iowa 14 UNI 13 with 7:24 left in the opening half.
Johnson with a wildcat 2 yard gain on the 2nd down play. 3rd & goal from the 5. UNI calls time out on this critical play.
We have 7:30 left in the opening half with Iowa winning by four.
Johnson with a four yard run.
Chad Owens catches across the middle to get a 1st & goal for UNI a the Iowa 7.
Owens is targeted on the 1st down play and catches it out of the end zone though to set up 2nd & goal.
The officials confirm what I saw on the replay and the ball is back with UNI. UNI will have it 2nd & 7 from the Iowa 39. It was just a three yard gain actually--three yards were on the fumble.
Nice throw and catch for UNI on the next play. 1st & 10 for the Panthers at the 20.
UNI tries a little razzle dazzle on the first play with a reverse to Kevin Vereen, Jr. but just for a four yard gain.
The second down play results in a first down by on a nice throw from Kollmorgan.
Johnson fumbes the next run up the middle after a big hit but it will have a video review. To be honest, I couldn't tell if he was down or not on this play.
Looking at the replay, Johnson was down on the play so UNI will retain possession (he gained 6 on the play.)
