Ironically, Tennessee Tech's season opener against DII Lane College had a weather delay similar to this game as the game was called after 25 minutes of play. The game counted as a win for the Golden Eagles since they were in the lead at the time but all statistics from the game did not count.
At this time, we have 3:37 left in the 3rd qtr with Iowa leading 34 - 0. I will probably wait for the weather to lighten up and then head for Ames as this game is pretty much over at this point.
The weather is getting bad and the game has been delayed for 30 minutes. I probably will have to leave early to this one in order to get to Ames.
The rain is really coming down. TTU gets just a 7 yard punt into the wind from Nick Campbell. There is 4:13 left in the third qtr and there is a huge down pour coming in sheets right now as Iowa takes over.
Sounds a little sloppy and error-prone.
TTU gets a roughing the passer call and two plays later, McNutt catches his second score of the game. Iowa 34 TTU 0 with 6:19 left.
The rain is coming down hard again after letting up for a while. Iowa is driving now and is down to the TTU 36. We have 7:08 left in the 3rd qtr.
TTU can't complete the 3rd down pass and had a 33 yard field goal attempt by Matthew Barker go wide right to keep the Golden Eagles scoreless. Iowa takes over at the 20 yard line with just over 10:00 left in the third qtr.
The Golden Eagles get a false start and then call a time out on the next play. It is now 3rd and 13 from the 16. We have 10:58 left in the 3rd qtr.
TTU is having their best drive of the game. The Golden Eagles are down to the Iowa 11 but are facing a 3rd and 8 from their. The big play on the drive was a pass to Demetrous Garrett for 37 yards.
TTU gets the opening possession of the 2nd half after deferring in the 1st half. They will start this possession at their own 25 yard line.
After the kickoff, Tennessee Tech just runs up the middle for a five yard gain after a moderate kickoff return. We have reached the half time break. TTU has not been that bad as the score would indicate but two interceptions and a long pass play have accounted for 17 of the points for Iowa. TTU will get the ball to begin the second half.
After a promising drive that brought TTU down to the Iowa 33 yard line. QB Tre Lamb's pass was intercepted by Shaun Prater and brought all the way back for a touchdown from 89 yards out. It is Iowa 27 - TTU 0 with just 10 second left in the 1st half.
TTU will have it at their own 25 yard line following a kickoff return.
TTU is holding the Hawkeyes. The Hawkeyes get it to the two yard line but the Golden Eagle defense hold Iowa to just a field goal. It is Iowa 20 TTU 0 with 3:18 left in the 2nd qtr.
So much for the drive. James Morris of Iowa intercepted a Lamb pass and returned it to the TTU nine yard line. We have 4:30 left in the 1st half with Iowa up 17-0 and looking for more now.

After going backwards on a false start penalty and a one yard loss on a running play, Iowa hits a big play with quarterback Vandenberg hitting wide receiver Marvin McNutt with an 88 yard touchdown throw. It was reviewed as McNutt was close to stepping out after he caught it and then took off to run. But the review showed he did not step out. We have Iowa 17 TTU 0 with 7:20 left in the second half.
