Speaking of the Southland

An avid observer of the Southland Conference, Plotkin has covered the conference for College Sporting News since 2007.

In addition to his involvement with CSN, Plotkin maintains a vote in the Sports Network FCS Top 25 poll while also voting annually for the Walter Payton, Buck Buchanan and Eddie Robinson Awards.

  1. Louisiana Schools Could Feel Pinch & Plenty of SLC Notes

    In perhaps one of the bigger stories of the off-season, several schools in the Southland Conference could soon face a financial pinch. Unlike college realignment, the final result of this situation could play out sooner than later.

    In the months' ahead, the four SLC schools based in Louisiana will be contemplating how to deal with an expected 23 percent cut to higher education during the 2011-12 fiscal year.

    The quarterback controversy at Texas State only got more confusing as [url=]redshirt freshman Eric Soza[/url] informed head coach Brad Wright that he would not be returning to the Bobcats' sidelines in the fall.

    Soza proved himself this past spring to be the frontrunner for the position of starting quarterback in light of the end of Bradley George's eligiblity in San Marcos.
