The game changed again on one play as Wilson had a pass deflected at the line of scrimmage and intercepted by Jeremy German who went 18 yards for a pick six to give Hampton a 31-28 lead with 9:15 to play.
Hampton is up to 12 penalties for the game.
Eddie Poole was going to beat the Hampton secondary again on third and long and the Pirates grabbed his jersey for pass interference to save a TD.
Jackie Wilson stayed in the game at QB for the Wildcats. Jamarr Robinson may have been banged up on his last drive. Good thing for the Wildcats that B-CU has more depth at quarterback than it did behind All-American Matthew Johnson last year. The lumps that the backups felt last year have made a difference in 2011.
Harold Love III, all 325 pounds of him, put pressure up the middle to sack Legree on a key play and the Pirates misfired with a pass on third down to end the drive. B-CU got the ball back with 11:31 remaining and a chance to build on a four-point lead.
An option play to Chisholm gave Hampton a first down to the B-CU 29.
Legree kept a drive alive with a completion on third and 10 for a first down to the Hampton 41.
Deon Hanks broke up a pass for B-CU to keep Hampton from a go-ahead touchdown pass.
After Bethune-Cookman dominated the third period, we head to the fourth quarter with the Wildcats ahead by four points.
DL Demarcus Bell dropped Wilson for a five-yard loss on the next play, but Rodney Scott turned a screen pass into a touchdown on second down and 14 from the 33. He cut up the middle, kept his legs moving and churned into the end zone on a great play to put B-CU up 28-24 with 37 seconds left in the third period.
Wilson picked up a first down at the Hampton 28.

QB David Legree accounted for 6-of-10 passing for 129 yards and one TD and seven rushes for 41 yards and two more TDs for Hampton in the first half. It will be interesting to see what kind of defensive adjustments that Bethune-Cookman makes in the second half as the Wildcats' hopes for another MEAC title rest on winning this game.
