PHILADELPHIA —There may not be many people in this pro-centric sports town who consider themselves true college football fans. But those that are have certainly enjoyed themselves in the past couple of years.
For all of the magic moments that teams like Penn and Villanova have experienced in rich pasts, college football has never been better in Philly than it is right now.

VILLANOVA — What a difference two years makes for the Villanova-James Madison rivalry. The last time JMU showed up on the Mainline was one of the worst weather days anyone from either school could remember.
A torrential rain poured on Villanova Stadium, with heavy winds sending the moisture sideways at times. In a matchup betweeen two of the top teams in the Football Championship Subdivision, game plans were quickly thrown out the window as the contest became a siege battle.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — After 18 years of covering the Football Championship Subdivision, one of the most exciting things for me to do on a Saturday is to get in the car and travel to a venue for the first time.
One of the top venues on my wish list has been Oliver C. Dawson Stadium on the South Carolina State campus, so sitting in the press box for Saturday's Bethune-Cookman and South Carolina State Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference showdown allowed me to put another notch in my Mac iBook.
