The Southland Conference is nearing the opening kickoff of the 2010 season.
As we make our way to the start of another year of SLC football, there has already been plenty of news emanating from two-a-days around the eight football-playing members of the league and 2011 newcomer Lamar.

Injuries this time of year are something that no one wants, especially as players battle for positioning on the depth chart and coaches plot a course of action for next season's recruiting class.
Falling under the radar with the other happenings in the league is the story that the football future of [url=http://www.mcneesesports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=93660&SPID=11448&DB_OEM_ID=22000&ATCLID=204932284]McNeese quarterback Zack Fourroux is in question[/url].
I am using our GPI to determine the teams (selected teams in orange) and believe this is a pretty good group based on if the season would end today. Remember there are 10 automatic qualifiers (listed with the projected Conf. champion in my list) and 10 at-large teams (listed as At-Large 1, 2, ect) that make the Division I playoffs.
Here are my selections and how I see the teams playing each other somewhat based on regionality as we know that the playoff committee will look to place

In perhaps one of the bigger stories of the off-season, several schools in the Southland Conference could soon face a financial pinch. Unlike college realignment, the final result of this situation could play out sooner than later.
In the months' ahead, the four SLC schools based in Louisiana will be contemplating how to deal with an expected 23 percent cut to higher education during the 2011-12 fiscal year.
The impact on the schools' athletic departments are not known
