The first half of the first semifinal game has been a good one. Eastern Washington did a good job bouncing back from Villanova's touchdown on the game's opening kickoff. And the Wildcats are hanging in despite the turnovers and the field position issues. To me, this game looks like one of those contests in which Eastern Washington may regret not getting in the end zone more with all of those trips into the red (literally, red) zone. The defending champions have to feel ...
The first look at the red turf of Roos Field on ESPN2 tonight and all I can say is WOW. Hopefully, I can still stand to look at the screen three hours from now as No. 1 ranked Eastern Washington hosts Villanova in the NCAA Division I Football Championship semifinals in Cheney, Wa. EWU calls its new digs "The Inferno" and the Eagles are undefeated here this season. Temperatures are suppose to dip into the 20s, from the 5 p.m. local starting weather in the 30s. At least it isn't ...

I am getting ready for this game. First off, the weather looks pretty good in Cheney for a mid-December night with the temps right at the freezing mark. Matt Szcur and Villanova just knocked off top seeded Appalachian State last weekand now will look to knock off the top ranked (at least in one poll) Eastern Washington. The Eagles are the fifth seed. The Eagles will need to win without All-American Taiwan Jones after breaking his foot in the OT win over NDSU last week. ...

On Saturday, No. 3 Delaware will entertain Georgia Southern at noon, with the game being televised by ESPN. Here is hoping for two more great games.
I am getting ready for the West battle of the Missouri Valley vs. the Big Sky last remaining playoff participants. I dubbed this the West championship game in my column this week and likely the winner of this game will play Villanova--in Cheney if EWU wins since they are a seed--No. 5. Villanova is leading #1 seed Appalachian State 42-24 at this point with just under 8:00 left in the fourth quarter. It would be unclear if NDSU or Villanova would host their clash if they would both win but one ...
