Once again, a pretty good week in a rough week to be picking FCS games.
I went 18-8, only really getting burned on the biggest shocker of the day (South Dakota over Eastern Washington) and going overaggressive on an FBS upset that very nearly happened (Central Arkansas lost to Louisiana Tech in OT).
More happily, I called Towson's "upset" over Villanova, Sacramento State's letdown againt Southern Utah, and even Duquesne's bounceback game vs. Dayton. Those
VERMILLION, S.D.--Today, I witnessed the defending national champions Eagles play South Dakota. I got to take my two sons to the game and we got to see an upset on the DakotaDome astroturf.
USd QB Dante Warren had a rushing and passing touchdown and kicker Kevin Robb had three field goals as the Coyotes upset the Eagles 30-17.
The Coyotes took a 21-0 lead in the second quarter before EWU finally scored. Warren scored on a 2-yard run and threw a 48-yard touchdown
TOWSON, MD. — It's better late than never as I traveled the three hours from Lehigh University to Towson University for the second game of my doubleheader as Villanova and Towson open Colonial Athletic Association play.
I arrived in the press box just in time to watch Towson score on a 47-yard screen pass Grant Enders to Dominique Booker as the Tigers took a 7-0 lead.
Both teams moved the ball well on their first drives of the quarter, but only Towson was rewarded.
BETHLEHAM, PA. — It didn't take long for New Hampshire to get on the scoreboard in this matchup between two top-25 FCS teams.
The Wildcats sliced through the Mountain Hawk defense to go 75 yards in nine plays, with Kevin Decker scoring on a third-down, two-yard bootleg to make it 7-0 with 12:17 remaining in the first quarter.
At the Georgia Dome. Like a CAA game. Getting ready to kickoff. ODU in white and Georgia State (I'll call them GSU for brevity) in their blue.
