  1. Thursday Night Football/Georgia State @ Alabama

Several years ago, I met Bill Curry for the first time. It was a snowy December night in Boone, N.C. as Appalachian State prepared for a semifinal playoff appearance against Furman in 2005.

Curry, a survivor of many cold, winter days, playing center for the Green Bay Packers, was bundled up in a parka, as he compared the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field with that of Kidd Brewer Stadium.

Curry, who was there to broadcast a college football game in a few days for ESPN, ...

  2. Big South Has Plans for the Three-Team Tie

Just a week away from the Big South Conference sending its first automatic qualifier to the FCS playoffs, the league is preparing for the possibility of three teams tying for the top spot.

Coastal Carolina's victory over Liberty last Saturday raised the question of how the Big South would pick one team out of three if there's no clear head-to-head advantage. 3. South Dakota State @ North Dakota State

FARGO, N.D.--I am in Fargodome for the Dakota Marker battler between the Jackrabbits and the Bison. NDSU has lost the last three matchups between these two teams. NDSU sits at 6-3 and would need to win this game and the next one at Missouri State to assure themselves of an at-large berth to the playoffs. SDSU sits at 4-5 this season and basically need to win out to get a winning season but are out of the playoff consideration after gaining a spot last year.

This is the 97th meeting ...

  4. Multi-Tasking: Wofford @ Appalachian State/New Hampshire @ Villanova

BOONE — One of the frustrations of being passionate about the Football Championship Subdivision is that I find myself torn on most weekends about what stadium I want to be in on any given Saturday.

On this crucial Saturday, just a little over a week before the 2010 NCAA Division I Football Championship playoff field is announced, I can think of three or four places I'd like to be.

In the Philadelphia area alone, just a short commute from CSN headquarters, you have two ...

  5. South Carolina State @ Morgan State

BALTIMORE, Md. — For those of us who cover the Football Championship Subdivision, Saturday's are not enough.

There is something special about covering a game on a Thursday night that gets you gets you a little more revved up for the games to come on Saturday.

I am sitting in the press box of Hughes Stadium, on the campus of Morgan State University (4-5, 3-3) for the Bears' game with No. 15-ranked South Carolina State 7-2, 5-1) tonight.

    This quaint facility ...
