The Southern Conference and Colonial Athletic Association have six teams each in the top 25; the Missouri Valley Football Conference has five; the Big Sky, Great West Conference and Ivy League have two each; and the Southland Conference plus the Patriot League each have one. As conference average rankings the Southern Conference's lead at #1 is challenged by the Missouri Valley Football Conference which strengthened its #2 position.
The greatest movement this week included several teams moving up five places and Towson tumbling 11. Three new schools entered the top 25, Youngstown State, Massachusetts and Southern Utah while South Dakota, Liberty and Jacksonville State departed. The Final 2011 GPI will be released once all the college football games have been played, in January 2012.
