The Missouri Valley Football Conference has seven teams in the top 25; the Big Sky Conference and the Southern Conference have four teams each; the Colonial Athletic Association and the Ohio Valley Conference have three each; the Southland Conference has two; and the Big South Conference plus the Ivy League each have one. For conference average rankings, the Missouri Valley Football Conference is comfortably ahead in first with the Southern and Big Sky Conferences at two and three. The Southland and Ohio Valley Conferences are in fourth and fifth with the Colonial Athletic Association close behind in sixth.
