Multi-game Blog--North Dakota State @ Montana State & SE Missouri St @ E. Washington

I am at home watching these two games. NDSU @ MSU is to start at 2:07 Eastern time and SEMO @ EWU will start at 4:05 Eastern. The Bison are coming off a first round win at home against Robert Morris 43-17 and the the other three teams had first round byes. Actually, SEMO had a bye to end their season so they had two weeks to prepare for their first ever playoff game in Cheney.

Montana State and North Dakota State are not new to meeting each other in the playoffs. MSU beat NDSU in 1976 in the DII semi-finals 10-3 in Fargo enroute to the DII national title that year. The two border states met last in 2005 with MSU also winning a narrow game 20-17 in Bozeman. I expect a similar types of game this week as they meet in a balmy for Montana weather in the 20s and mostly sunny skies after the Bozeman area saw several inches of snow over the past day or so.

The weather also should not be a problem in Cheney with temperatures likely in the upper 20 - lower 30s at kickoff time with mostly sunny skies. The running game will likely be highlighted with these two teams.

I am looking forward to watching these two games amongst four schools that are all from west of the Mississippi. The MSU-NDSU winner will play the winner of the SEMO-EWU winner next week.

    NDSU wins the coin toss and defered to the second half. MSU starts at their own 15 yard line following the NDSU kickoff.

    MSU took three first downs and drove to the NDSU 28 but a sack by the Bison forced a punt. The MSU punt goes into the endzone. NDSU starts at their own 20.

    NDSU goes three and out on their first possession. MSU takes over following the punt at their own 30.

    MSU goes three and out on their possession. The MSU punt by Rory Perez is fair caught at their own 33. We have 4:55 left in the 1st quarter.

    NDSU again goes three and out on their possession. MSU returns the Prelvitz punt to the to their own 26.

    MSU also goes three and out. The Perez punt is fair caught and NDSU will start at their own 32. We have 2:41 left in the 1st.

    NDSU has moved the ball with two first downs as we end the 1st qtr. NDSU is at the MSU 39 yard line as we start the second frame.

    NDSU scores on the 13th play of a 61 yard drive on a 1 yard run by quarterback Brock Jensen. We have 10:48 left in the 1st half with NDSU leading 7-0.

    MSU's running back Orenzo Davis fumbles the first play and NDSU recovers. NDSU starts at the MSU 23.

    NDSU QB Jensen runs for a first down on a 3rd and 3 play but is hit hard and is down currently. Jose Mohler is in now. It is 1st & 10 Bison at the MSU 11.

    NDSU's drive stalls at the MSU 9. Ryan Jastram's 26 yard field goal is wide right. We remain 7-0 NDSU with 8:44 left in the 1st half.
