Villanova @ Eastern Washington

I am getting ready for this game. First off, the weather looks pretty good in Cheney for a mid-December night with the temps right at the freezing mark. Matt Szcur and Villanova just knocked off top seeded Appalachian State last weekand now will look to knock off the top ranked (at least in one poll) Eastern Washington. The Eagles are the fifth seed.

The Eagles will need to win without All-American Taiwan Jones after breaking his foot in the OT win over NDSU last week.

We shall see how that plays out.

I am looking for a closer game than most expect but without Jones, I would think the Wildcats have the advantage.

Eastern Washington is looking for their first trip to the championship game but with a win, their conference of the Big Sky would be going to the game for the third straight year. Montana went and lost the last two title contests.

We shall see though on the red turf in the Inferno.

    EWU runs it with Brown and loses three. VU calls their last TO. It will be 2nd & 13 at the 31 with 2:29 left in the game.

    Brown goes out of bounds on the 2nd down play. Freshman mistake on this play as VU has no more TO's.

    It will be 3rd & 5 at the 24. Brown gets a yard on the play. 4th & 4 and EWU will call TO after the play clock runs down at the 1:11 mark.

    Another interesting call after Jarrett missed a FG previously. EWU will go for it.

    Mitchell hits Herd with a great pass for a touchdown. EWU back up by 10 with 1:04 left in the game. It looks like the Eagles are going to Frisco.

    Whitney sacked and then picked off by Matt Johnson. That wraps it up for sure with just :13 left.

    Final Eastern Washington 41 Villanova 31. The Eagles go to the FCS national championship game for the first time ever.

    The Eagles finish 8-0 on the red turf--must be the good luck charm for the Eagles.
