AMES, IA--Well, I made the hard drive on I-80 then to I-35 to get to Ames. This is a matchup between the Panthers and Cyclones that could be an upset in my opinion.

Temperatures are at 71 degress but with 94% humidity so this non-climate controlled press box is a bit steamy.

This is the 27th time that these two schools have played with UNI winning just once, in 2007. ISU won 27-0 last year.

UNI brings a wealth of experience back with 10 of its top 11 tacklers from a year ago.

The Panthers also bring back quarterback Tirrell Rennie and running back Carlos Anderson to provide a spark on the offense.

I think this will be a very close game and much closer than last year's contest. I like the Panthers to win it with a late score.

We shall see.

    UNI won the toss and will recieve the opening kickoff.

    UNI goes 7 plays on the opening drive and gets a 42 yard field goal from Tyler Sievertsen to put the Panthers up 3 - 0 with 12:09 left in the 1st qtr.

    Iowa State goes three and out and their punt goes into the end zone. UNI will start the next drive at their 20 yard line. We have 10:44 left in the opening qtr.

    UNI gets one first down but then stalls. A poor punt sets ISU up well--starting on their own 49 yard line. 7:51 left in the 1st qtr.

    Jarrett Scott picks off ISU qb Steele Jantz's pass. He returned it to the ISU 28 but a personal foul call on the Panthers sets them up at their own 14 to start this drive. We have 6:43 left in the opening qtr.

    After a nice 16 yard pickup by Rennie, UNI's drive stalls at their own 27. The punt puts ISU at 1st & 10 at their own 40.

    ISU gets the aid of three penalities on the same play--two personal fouls and an offsides to set them up a the UNI 25.

    ISU has a 3rd & 2 at the UNI 17. QB Jantz keeper gets the first down to the 12.

    Jantz throws his second interception and stops the Cyclone scoring drive. JJ Swain picks up this INT for UNI. It is 1st & 10 at their own 4. We ahve 1:54 left in the 1st qtr.

    End of the 1st qtr. UNI has a 3rd and 8 from their own 20 on this current drive.

    I would like to congradulate Sacramento State on defeating BCS Oregon State 29-28. It is a game I was listening to on Sirus radio coming over to Ames. They lead 21-6 and won in OT.

    UNI holds ISU to three and out. The Cyclone punt will be downed at the 13 yard line.

    1st & 10 for UNI from the 13 with 13:41 left in the 2nd qtr.

    UNI driving on this possession. The Panthers have converted two third downs thus far and are out to their 45, currently with a 1st & 10 with 12:34 left in the half.

    UNI's drive stalls at the ISU 7 yard line but the Panthers get a 24-yard field goal from Sievertsen to go up 6-0 with 8:55 left in the half.

    ISU driving on this one and coverted a 4th and 2 play on a qb draw. ISU with another big run from their qb Jantz to set up a 2nd & 1. ISU goes for the TD but the pass is incomplete.

    It is 3rd & 1 from the 24.

    On this play, ISU fumbles and LJ Fort recovers the fumble to stall the ISU drive. We have 5:04 left in the game.

    UNI goes three and out. ISU ball on their own 30. 3:23 left in the half.

    ISU driving on this drive. They are at the UNI 15 but now are faced with a 3rd & 3.

    ISU gets the first down. 1st & goal at the 10. just 0:42 left.

    ISU tight end Reed Branderhorst makes a tipped catch in the end zone. Video replay overturns the call.

    It is now 2nd & goal.

    ISU gets nothing on a swing pass play. Its 3rd & goal at the 10 with 0:29. ISU Time Out.

    False start on ISU, 3rd & goal from the 15.

    UNI gets a pass interference call and also a unsportsmanlike call to put the ball at the one yard line.

    First down play is incomplete. 0:19 left in the half.

    Run play goes for nothing for ISU. Just 0:06 left and its 3rd & Goal. ISU uses their last time out.
