AMES, IA--Well, I made the hard drive on I-80 then to I-35 to get to Ames. This is a matchup between the Panthers and Cyclones that could be an upset in my opinion.

Temperatures are at 71 degress but with 94% humidity so this non-climate controlled press box is a bit steamy.

This is the 27th time that these two schools have played with UNI winning just once, in 2007. ISU won 27-0 last year.

UNI brings a wealth of experience back with 10 of its top 11 tacklers from a year ago.

The Panthers also bring back quarterback Tirrell Rennie and running back Carlos Anderson to provide a spark on the offense.

I think this will be a very close game and much closer than last year's contest. I like the Panthers to win it with a late score.

We shall see.

    Another pass interference call on UNI gives ISU a 1st down. The Cyclones with a gusty call to go for it with just :03 left.

    ISU in with a Jantz touchdown run. No time left and video replay confirms it is a score.

    At the half, it is Iowa State 7 Northern Iowa 6.

    ISU gets the ball to start the 3rd qtr. ISU starts at the 26.

    The Cyclones go three and out. The punt sends UNI back to their own 10 yard line. Still 7-6 with 13:06 left in the 3rd qtr.

    UNI has driven out to their own 43 but now face a 3rd and 8.

    Rennie gets the Panthers to the ISU 34 with two big consecutive runs.

    UNI has another 3rd down now at the 31 of ISU. They need 7 yards to continue the drive.

    UNI gets down to the ISU 21. On the 3rd & 7. A holding on UNI but a personsal foul call on ISU sends UNI to the 16. Its 1st & 10 from there. We have 4:45 left in the 3rd qtr.

    The Panthers again face a third down and 2 at the nine.

    They get the first down. Its first and goal at the 3.

    Yet another third down. This time at the ISU 1 yard line. UNI uses a time out.

    David Johnson gets the first touchdown for UNI. 90 yard drive with 22 plays.

    UNI 13 ISU 2:30 left in the 3rd qtr.

    Iowa State starts their next drive at their own 24 yard line.

    Scott gets his second interception. UNI ball with 1:30 at their own 47. 1:30 left in the third qtr.

    At the end of the third qtr, UNI is driving, at the ISU 40 right now. They will face a 2nd & 10 when the 4th qtr begins.

    UNI's drive stalls after a holding call. UNI to punt from the 42 and it goes into the end zone. It is a touchback. ISU to start this drive from the 20 with 13:56 left in the game.

    ISU has it out to the 35 yard line but face a 3rd and 7 with 12:10 left

    ISU is forced to punt and the game goes out of the end zone. UNI ball at the 20 with 11:53 left in the game.

    UNI has three plays that go no where and are forced to punt. The Panther punt is downed at the ISU 43 yard line. We have 10:55 left in the game.

    ISU also goes three and out. The Cyclone punt is fair caught at the 11 yard line. We have 10:08 left in the game.

    UNI drove out to the 35 but are now forced to punt. Kyle Bernard's punt is returned back to the ISU 39 yard line. We have 5:37 left with UNI still up 13-7.

    ISU gets a first down after two plays. The Cyclones are out to their own 49 yard line.

    A big pass to Josh Lenz of the Cyclones has ISU down to the UNI 25.

    ISU has two passes go through receivers hands. It is 3rd and 10 from the 25. 4:40 left in the game.
