CEDAR FALLS, IA--I am in Panther country today for the game between the Sycamores (4-1, 2-0 MVFC) and Panthers (3-1, 2-0 MVFC). It is homecoming here in Cedar Falls and are expecting a near sell-out in the UNI-Dome.

Both teams are ranked and this should be a good contest. Indiana State has not between Northern Iowa since 2002 but this year's team likely is the best since that season for Coach Trent Miles.

Coach Mark Farley's Panthers are a point away from being undefeated--a late score by another game I attended by Iowa State in the season opener prevented a Panther upset.

Last year, UNI defeated ISU 30-20 on the road and I think this game will be similar. I look for both teams running games to be good with UNI's senior quarterback Tirrell Rennie and redshirt freshman David Johnson doing the most of the damage thus far. For Indiana State, it will be junior Shakir Bell.

The Sycamores also have one of MVFC's top quarterbacks in Ronnie Fouch so I would look for them to pass a little more than the Panthers.

But with the home field, I think the Panthers have the advantage in this game. We shall see how this one plays out.

    Indiana State won the toss and will receive.

    The UNI kick is in the end zone for a touchback.

    1st & 10 for ISU at their own 20.

    Indiana State is driving on the opening drive. They are down to the UNI 25 currently and just took a timeout to avoid a delay of game flag. It has been a combination of both running by Bell and passing by Fouch so far on this drive.

    It is 1st & 10 with 13:15 left in the 1st qtr.

    Indiana State is down to the UNI 15 after a nice screen pass to Bell. But the next play is a 2 yard loss for Bell and Fouch over throws the 2nd down play. It is 3rd & 12 from the 17 right now.

    Fouch is sacked on the 3rd down play and will set up a 44 yard FG attempt for Cory Little and he makes it.

    It is ISU 3 UNI 0 with 10:38 left in the opening qtr.

    The scoring drive was 10 plays 54 yards in 4:22

    The ISU kickoff sails out of the endzone for a touchbaack. 1st & 10 from their own 20 for UNI.

    The Panthers get into ISU territory but a holding call and a false start has UNI back to their own 40.

    UNI overcomes the two calls and get a first down. The Panthers currently have it at the Sycamore 41 with a 2nd & 2.

    We have 6:00 left in the opening qtr.

    ISU holds UNI at their own 31. It will be a 49 yard FG attempt from Tyler Sievertsen and he nails it.

    We are tied 3-3 with 3:12 left in the 1st qtr.

    13 plays, 49 yards 7:26 on the UNI scoring drive.

    ISU returns the UNI kickoff back to their own 29.

    After a screen pass goes no where. Bell rattles off a big run out to the Panther 45.

    UNI has forced a 3rd & 12 after the big run and intercepts the pass on this play by linebacker Jordan Smith. He returns it back to the ISU 43. We have 0:21 left in the 1st.

    UNI gets a four yard run by Johnson as the last play of the 1st qtr. UNI will have it 2nd & 6 at the ISU 39 when we start the 2nd frame.

    Rennie passes and runs the Panthers down to the ISU 5.

    Johnson finishes off the drive on the next play for the UNI touchdown.

    UNI leads now 10-3 with 13:38 left in the 2nd qtr.

    4 plays, 43 yards. 1:23 off the clock.

    ISU returns the kickoff back to their own 21.

    ISU has a 3rd & 11 from their 20 right now. The Fouch pass falls incomplete and we will see our first punt of the game.

    A running into the kicker penalty (5 yard foul) is declined and UNI will take it after a good punt at their own 29.

    A 3rd & 8 forces Rennie to pass and he is sacked. UNI will punt for the first time on 4th & 13.
