10 Conferences, 10 Autobids - Part 1

Rate this Entry
A few years ago I hosted an Internet radio show for CSN called "I-AA Waves." On it I created a feature called "8 Conferences, 8 Autobids" in which a guest and I would talk about the chances of teams getting a league's AQ each week. The guest would make the prediction since I don't really go for that kind of stuff.

Now it is "10 Conferences, 10 Autobids" but I'll switch it around and give what the conferences say with a little gleaned from the CSN staff and give a lukewarm prediction (except for SHSU of course which already has the AQ in hand). A few of them are just too close to even go lukewarm with.

Big Sky

Montana State clinched at least a share of its second straight Big Sky Conference championship and can clinch the outright championship with a win over Montana next week. Montana could clinch a share of the Big Sky Conference title with a victory and the league’s automatic bid will go to the winner of the game.
-Montana State or Montana

Big South

The Nov. 19 season-finale between Liberty and Stony Brook will decide the Big South’s automatic qualifier to the FCS playoffs. Liberty can clinch at least a share of the regular-season championship with a Stony Brook loss this Saturday at Gardner-Webb.
-Liberty or Stony Brook

Colonial

Three teams are all tied at the top of the league standings with a 5-1 mark, New Hampshire, Towson and Maine. We will see in the next two weeks.
-New Hampshire or Towson

Mid-Eastern

Norfolk State clinched at least a share of its first-ever MEAC football title. NSU must win at Morgan State this week to clinch its first outright MEAC championship and earn the conference's AQ. Morgan State could win a share of the title with a victory in that game and a win in its finale.
-Norfolk State

Missouri Valley

North Dakota State can win the league’s automatic bid and at least a share of the conference title this weekend with a win over Youngstown State. Otherwise the Bison would also win the tiebreaker should a three-way tie for first between NDSU, UNI and Illinois State develop (all three with 6-2 records).
-North Dakota State

Northeast

If Albany wins their final two contests they get the title and AQ. But there is a possibility of a three or four-way tie with Duquesne, Monmouth, and Bryant. In the event of a three-way tie between Albany, Duquesne, and Monmouth (presuming Monmouth defeats Albany) or four teams all finish with two league losses and tie for first, Duquesne would acquire the NEC’s AQ.
-Albany or Duquesne

Ohio Valley

Eastern Kentucky holds a one-game lead over a trio of teams (Tennessee Tech, UT Martin and Jacksonville State) in the OVC standings. The Colonels are currently 5-1 in OVC play and play two of the teams (Tennessee Tech and UT Martin) who are directly below them in the standings over the next two weeks. With eight OVC games left to be played there are many possibilities that exist, but any of the four teams at the top of the standings could still win the title or AQ if certain things happen (including a possibility of a six-way tie at the top of the standings).
-Eastern Kentucky

Patriot

Lehigh hosts Georgetown this week in a winner-take-all game for the Patriot League title.
-Lehigh

Southern

Georgia Southern can win the title and AQ with a win over Wofford this weekend. If the Terriers win and then win their finale, they win both. If not then Furman and Appalachian State could muddle it up by winning out.
-Georgia Southern

Southland

Sam Houston State clinched at least a tie for the Southland championship and secured the AQ. With a win over Northwestern State this week they win the title outright.
-Sam Houston State already has it
