Having covered a couple of Western Illinois games in the past, I got to know Coach Don Patterson, at least a little bit. Coach Patterson definitely deserved better than he received. IMO I weighed in on a column on him last year after he began his recovery from cancer.

I wish the Leathernecks well but this really tarnished their program IMO.
