2012 Division I National Title Game, #2 North Dakota State vs. #1 Sam Houston State

FRISCO, TX--I am in the pressbox getting ready for the game between the Bison and Bearkats. I will have to admit that the pressbox is not quite as nice as the rest of the stadium but it is better than some that I have been to.

The weather right now is cloudy with temperatures in the upper 40s. It is expected to clear off by kickoff.

Like in the my preview, I think turnovers will be the key to game with the winner likely winning this area. Special teams is another area that I really didn't touch in my preview this week and this might also be a key area with the punting and place kicking being a big area as well.

I look forward to this game and will be blogging as we go. I will be providing my opinions and dialog as we go.

I look forward to a great game with a packed house here at FC Dallas Stadium and from the tailgating already happening, it should be a pretty rowdy crowd.

Like I said in my preview, I believe Sam Houston State will win a narrow game but really think this is as close as the statistics show. But we shall see in a couple hours.

    I am getting excited now. Both teams are warming up on the field now. Just 45 minutes to settle who is best not only in the West but best in the country! I am excited as it is the first time that I have seen the two West teams make the championship game in my time covering FCS.

    I spent a little time in the Tailgating Area and it had swarms of people from both teams. I think that those that thought this game might be a home game for SHSU might be in for an awakening. I believe there were just as many NDSU folks out today as SHSU fans.

    Just an update on the officials for the game. It is a Colonical Athletic Association crew. The replay booth will be handled by the Big 12 Conference.

    I am ready for some football.

    We are getting ready. Just from the sound of the crowd, there likely is more NDSU fans here than SHSU fans but folks are still filling into FC Dallas Stadium.

    The starting lineups are now be announced for both squads and for both sides of the ball.

    The mostly sunny skies forecast has changed to be mostly cloudy as we near kickoff.

    We are ready for football with a great national anthem.

    SHSU wins the coin flip and will take the ball to begin the game. This game is ready to go as NDSU is ready to kick.

    SHSU returns the kick back only to the 17.

    Richard Sincere with a great gain with the game's first play on a great play action from quarterback Brian Bell. The Bearkats are out to the NDSU 47.

    SHSU is backed up on an illegal formation play. The next play on an option read is blown up by NDSU's Marcus Williams.

    right here with ya Kent... those yellow tops with green bottoms are sharp for the Bison, and all white for the Bearkats

    Bell's 2nd down pass is too high and SHSU will have it at 3rd and 19 from their own 44.

    Bell keeps it on the option and gets only a yard.

    It is 4th and 18 from the SHSU 45.

    The SHSU punt rolls dead at the NDSU 14. We have 12:25 left in the 1st qtr and NDSU gets their first crack with ball.

    NDSU gets a first down on what has gotten them here all season long with a DJ McNorton run and a pass to Veldeman.

    NDSU has the first bonehead play of the day with a personal foul on Matt Veldman. NDSU is backed up to their own 15 wiht a 2nd & 21 now.

    QB Brock Jensen with a keeper gets 5. The Bison face a 3rd and 16 from their 20. Jensen's pass is too high for Veldman.

    The Bison get a huge kick from Matt Voigtlander on his punt to send SHSU back to their own 14.

    Like I mentioned in the pregame, special teams will be a huge factor. When it looked like SHSU would get great field possession, NDSU gets a huge special teams play on the punt to help out the defense.

    SHSU faces a 3rd and 2 after a nice 8 yard game then throws an incompletion.

    Sincere runs the wild Bearkat but only gets one to set up a 4th and 1 for SHSU.
