NORMAL, Ill--I am in Normal today with this matchup that will decide the Missouri Valley Football Conference autobid. Hancock Stadium is going through a renovation where the east side of the field is completely empty with cement starting to be poured for the foundation of the new side seating. Capacity this year is just 7,700 with seating just on the west and south sides of the field that runs north to south.

It is the winner take all in this match-up with the winner likely getting a seed in the playoffs. NDSU being ranked #1 right now in the GPI and Illinois State ranked #6.

Both of these teams should see their name come up in the 20-field playoff announcement tomorrow but this game will mean a lot for home field advantage. Although if South Dakota State wins today, there would be a three way tie and NDSU would get the Autobid given the three way tie.

NDSU comes into this game with a 3-2 series advantage. NDSU won in Fargo last year 20-10 in a closely contested matchup.

I think this game will be key to what team can win the line of scrimmage. Both teams like to run the ball first. Turnovers will also play a key role into the game. NDSU's quarterback Brock Jensen has turned the ball over several times in the past couple games. Defenses on NDSU seem to be falling eight men back to the cover the passing game and this has caused confusion on the offense and led to a number of the interceptions he has thrown. In total, Jensen has thrown 7 interceptions.

Illinois State's Matt Brown has been also inconsistent especially in ISU's two losses to Missouri State and Southern Illinois. In total, he has thrown 10 picks on the season

I think NDSU will come out on top of this game. Their defense has won the games basically the past two weeks. I think the NDSU offense will get back on track before they head to the playoffs and will use the running game to do so.

This will likely still be a low scoring game as ISU also has a strong defense.

We shall see and I look forward to this game as this should give both teams a good test before both enter the postseason.

    3rd & goal at the ISU 12. Gebhart can't make the slant catch. NDSU will be forced to kick the field goal from Keller from 29 yards out.

    NDSU cuts the lead to three. ISU 20 NDSU 17 with 7:40 left in the 3rd qtr.

    ISU returns the kickoff only back to their own 15.

    Brown is intercepted by Andre Martin but Martin is called for a pass interference so ISU gets 15 yards on the foul. Questionable call in my opinion.

    1st & 10 at their 30. Pass too far outside on first down

    2nd & 10 at 30. is a short pass.

    3rd & 5. Brown losses the ball after being batted away by Cole Jirik to set up a punt for the Redbirds.

    NDSU takes over at their own 30. We have 5:56 left in the 3rd qtr.

    Key drive for NDSU here. If they can move it like they did the last drive, this game will be very interesting.

    1st & 10 from the NDSU 45. Jensen gets four on a qb keeper.

    2nd & 6 from the NDSU 49. Crockett gets three to set up a third down.'

    3rd & 3 from the ISU 48. Jensen with the qb keeper for a 17 yard gain.

    2nd & 9 at the ISU 30. Crockett gets seven.

    3rd & 3 at the ISU 23. Crockett again for the first down to the ISU 18.

    1st & 10 at the ISU 18. Jensen throws it over the head of Smith. Probably a good throw away.

    3rd & 5 from the ISU 13. Jensen good scrambling and throws it away. ISU, however, was offsides to give NDSU the first down.

    End of the third qtr with ISU leading 20-17.

    NDSU, however, will have it 2nd & goal at the ISU 3 when we start the 4th qtr.

    Dunn again for five more to the ISU 42.

    Walker gets five for another first down to the ISU 47.

    1st & 10 from the ISU 47. Marcus Williams almost intecepts the pass from Brown.

    2nd & 10. Dudley for two.

    3rd & 8 from the ISU 49. Brown is sacked and fumbles the ball. NDSU recovers. HUGE TURNOVER THERE with NDSU leading 24-20 at the ISU 46 now.

    First play goes to Ryan Smith for 39 yards to get a first and goal at the seven.

    Ojuri gets three on the first down play to the four.

    Jensen gets in from there to give NDSU a two score advantage. PAT is good.

    Dunn gets three on first down and Brown escapes to basically just throw it away on 2nd down.

    Huge third & 7 here. Long pass but is incomplete. Penalty flag but it is picked up on what looked like possible pass interference. ISU punts.

    NDSU takes over on their own 27. We have 8:44 left in the game with NDSU leading by 11.

    2nd & 10 from the NDSU 27. Crockett for 14 on the ground on a nice run.

    1st & 10 from the NDSU 41. False start on NDSU.

    1st & 15 at the NDSU 36. Crockett with another strong run. This guy does not want to go down. Gain of 11.

    2nd & 4 at the NDSU 47. Crockett again for a big gain to the ISU 26. Crockett goes over the century mark on that run for the third time this year.

    1st & gaol a the ISU 26. Ojuri gets 4 on the play. NDSU dominating the line right now.

    Ojuri gets 23 and also goes over the century mark. First time for NDSU since 2008. He gets down to the 1.

    Crockett can't quite stretch for the score. Ojuri gets it on 2nd down and this might be the dagger in this game. PAT is good.
