BROOKINGS, S.D.--I am at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium for today's first round playoff game between the Ohio Valley Conference champion Eastern Illinois Panthers and the Missouri Valley Conference runner-up South Dakota State Jackrabbits.

And it's rather chilly in the pressbox, I might add. I should have remembered this time of year as it was around this temperature when SDSU played North Dakota State in both team's last Great West game for each team in 2007.

This is the first home postseason game in Brookings at any level for SDSU.

The weather is rather chilly but not unexpected in South Dakota. Temperatures right now are in the upper 20s/lower 30s with a high today to be around 35.

The wind might be the tougher thing to handle with the brisk 20 mph wind and gusts over 30.

That weather might hamper the EIU passing game but should not be much of a factor with the power running for SDSU.

The Jacks have to be the favorite in this game with the home field and field conditions that lean more towards the Jacks type of offense.

But we shall see. The winner of this game will have a chance at #1 seeded North Dakota State next week in Fargo.

    Its been the Zach Zenner show in the first half with his 246 yards on the ground to go with three touchdowns. SDSU in total has 337 yards.

    EIU has 165 yards in total. The Panthers will need a lot of help to get back into this one in the 2nd half.

    EIU returns the opening 2nd half kickoff to the 22. But a false start sends the Panthers back 5.

    Lora with two catches and Walker gets two on third down to keep the drive going.

    1st & 10 at the EIU 33. Walker gets 2 to the 35.

    2nd & 8 at the EIU 35. Lora with a nice catch over the middle to the SDSU 38.

    1st & 10 at the SDSU 38. No gain on a run by Walker.

    2nd & 10. Lora gets 14 on a rushing play to the SDSU 24.

    1st & 10 at the SDSU 24. Pass goes incomplete.

    2nd & 10 from the SDSU 24. Pass incomplete. over thrown.

    3rd & 10 from the SDSU 24. Walker with a draw play and slips to the 20.

    4th & 6 from the SDSU 20. EIU goes for it and is sacked by SDSU's David Hettiger.

    SDSU takes over at their own 27 on the loss of downs.

    1st & 10 from the 27. Pass goes incomplete.

    2nd & 10 from the 27. Zenner gets 13 on a rush up the middle.

    1st & 10 at the SDSU 40. Zenner finally gets stacked up and loses two on the rush.

    2nd & 12 at the SDSU 38. Zenner with a draw play for 9.

    3rd and 3 at the SDSU 47. Kool drops the ball and SDSU will be punting.

    4th & 3. Punt is returned by Lora for just three yards to the EIU 10.

    We have 10:12 left in the 3rd qtr with the score still 34-3 SDSU.

    1st & 10 at the EIU 10. Pass is way overthrown and out of bounds towards Lora.

    2nd & 10. Taylor Duncan on the rush for no gain.

    3rd & 10. Lora with the catch across the middle but is short of the first down at the EIU 19.

    4th & 1 at the EIU 19. Punt is downed at the SDSU 46. We have 8:54 left in the 3rd qtr.

    1st & 10 at the SDSU 46. Deep pass intended for Kool is just a little long.

    2nd & 10 at the SDSU 46. Zenner with a nice six yard gain but we have flags on the play. EIU will get a personal foul to add 15 yards and a Jackrabbit first down to the EIU 33.

    1st & 10 at the EIU 33. Zenner again for six. (tied his career high in rushing yards).

    2nd & 4 at the EIU 27. Pass is overthrown to Rollins.

    3rd & 4 at the EIU 27. Zenner with his first pass reception for a gain of seven for a first down.

    1st & 10 at the EIU 20. Another 5 yard gain for SDSU.

    2nd & 5 at the EIU 15. Zenner gets another six to the EIU 9.

    1st & goal at the nine. False start by SDSU.

    1st & goal at the 14. Caught by Rollin but was out of bounds in the end zone.

    2nd & goal at the EIU 14. Zenner gets three to the 293 yard mark to set a school record in rushing.

    3rd & goal at the EIU 11. Caught again. This time by Schneider out of bounds.

    4th & goal at the EIU 11. 28 yard field goal by Syrovatka is good.

    SDSU 37 EIU 3 with 4:40 left in the 3rd qtr.

    The SDSU kickoff bounces into the end zone for a touchback. EIU will start at their own 25.

    1st & 10 at the 25. Lora gets seven on a pass.

    2nd & 3 at the EIU 32. Gobe gets a nailed in the backfield for a four yard loss.

    3rd & 7. Another loss to the 20 on a sack.

    Punt is fair caught at the SDSU 40.

    1st & 10 at the SDSU 40. Zenner is out with Gandy in the play & gets two on the play.

    2nd & 8 at the SDSU 42. Kool catches a swing pass and runs for 14.

    1st & 10 at the EIU 44. Gandy gets five on the rush.

    2nd & 5 at the EIU 39. Brandon Hubert on the catch for a gain of seven and another 1st down for the Jacks.

    SDSU will have it 1st & 10 at the EIU 22 when we start the final qtr.

    2nd & 7 at the EIU 19. Hubert catches the pass to the EIU 3 to set up a first and goal for the Jacks.

    2nd & goal at the EIU 3. Gandy pushes his way into the endzone from a yard out.

    Finally a good highlight for EIU as Pendergrass returns the Jacks kickoff back to their own 42.

    EIU in the end zone after a first down but there is a chop block on the Panthers to send them back 15 yards. EIU will have it 1st & 25 at the EIU 42 again.

    Big play to Lora and another to Chris Wright.

    Jake Walker gets in the end zone from five yards out after the two big pass plays.

    PAT is good.

    The kickoff goes out of the end zone for the touchback. SDSU will start at their own 25.

    Gander gets 49 yards on the first play to the EIU 26.

    Gander gets another eight on the next play.

    2nd & 2 at the EIU 18. Gander gets another first down for five more.

    Zenner came back in as Gandy was banged up on the play and gets a couple yards.

    Gandy back in and is just short of the first down. Cam Jones comes in a quarterback and gets the rushing touchdown from 5 yards out.

    PAT is good.
