#5 Georgia Southern @ #1 North Dakota State, 2012

Rate this Entry
In just over an hour, the rematch will be seen in the Fargodome. A capacity crowd is again expected inside this facility and likely the sound will be the loudest it has been all season as well.

I expect a much closer game than what was seen last year with a 35-7 NDSU win.

The Eagle offense will be able to move the ball at times in this game, I beleive. The Georgia Southern defense is where I see the question marks.

Ball control will likely be in the minds of both teams and believe NDSU will likely try to run the ball a little more than in the past and not allow quarterback Brock Jensen to beat them with another interception return for a touchdown. But I feel NDSU will have to throw it a little bit to keep the Eagle defense offguard.

Like my preview earlier this week, I feel NDSU will pull this one out but will be close. This game likely will go to the final quarter and it will not be a 28 point win this year for the Bison.

I can't wait for the opening kickoff in this one.

I really think the main difference this year for Georgia Southern is QB Jerick McKinnon’s 1,649 rushing yards on the year which ranks fourth all-time in school history and is 283 yards shy of tying Adrian Peterson’s school record of 1,932 yards. He is one slippery threat!

Of QB Jerick McKinnon’s 1,649 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns this season, 1,056 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns have come in during the stretch run of the last six games, which featured three FCS Playoff teams in Appalachian State, Central Arkansas and Old Dominion and one FBS squad in Georgia. The junior has also rushed for 1,294 yards and 15 touchdowns since taking over the quarterback role against Western Carolina.

The Eagles are the only team to play in the FCS Semifinals in each of the last three years.

We are getting ready for this great matchup. Georgia Southern will defer to the second half after winning the coin toss. NDSU will get the ball to begin the game.

The opening kickoff is returned by Marcus Williams but he doesn't have much room and only gets to the NDSU 19.

Nice Eagle drive, 4th and 1 at the Bison three, and GSU has no FG game AT ALL!

4th & 1 at the NDSU 4. The Eagles will still go for it.

JJ Wilcox takes the option pitch and takes to the right side into the end zone.

    PAT is blocked, however.

That was a key drive in my opinion. This will take a little of the steam out of the Fargodome crowd.

Now, we will have a key drive for the Bison. They can not go three and out here.

only the 4th rushing TD the Bison have allowed all year and the first offensive TD allowed this playoffs
