Mistakes Abound in Frisco Announcement

Rating: 3 votes, 2.33 average.
One of these things is not like the others:

Division I adopts 20-team bracket, moves FCS title game to Frisco, Texas (ESPN)
Frisco's Pizza Hut Park to host Football Championship Subdivision title game (Dallas Morning News)
Football Championship Subdivision title game will be in Frisco (Dallas Morning News Blog - Todd Davis)
Chattanooga: Title game headed to Frisco (Chattanooga Times Free Press)

Can you guess which article is different?

Give up?

Each of the articles except for the Chattanooga Times Free Press one wrongly identifies the Division I Football Championship game as the FCS title game.

You may be thinking, well it is the FCS title game. But if you look at the trophy like the people in Chattanooga have, it does not say FCS Champion. It says D-I Champion.

This is after the NCAA sent each a press release that correctly identifies the game.

It is no wonder that ESPN got it wrong, but the Dallas papers that we are counting on got it wrong too. One of them (Dallas News) even called it "second tier."

Publications across the nation made the same mistake.

*sigh*

Congrats on your selection Frisco, now get to work on training the press around there to have enough respect for the game to call it what it is.

It a teachable moment, an opportunity.
