Will Montana Leave FCS?

In reading the following article, it sounds very possible. WIth selling out Washington-Grizzly Stadium virtually every game over the past 10+ years, I would say the lure of a higher revenues might be too much for the university to overlook. Of course, we all know the history of move-ups. Just in the Big Sky Conference, we see a couple successes and what I would consider failures.

We all know the story of Boise State but we also know of their in-state rival Idaho. But we also have seen Nevada be somewhat successful upon their move-up, especially in basketball.

Any movements, however, can not take place until after 2011 as their is a NCAA rule to keep from schools moving divisions until then.

WIth this news, I have to wonder also about the two fully scholarship FCS teams in UC Davis and Cal Poly. I see the Mustangs released their schedule and have a stretch of five straight home games. And their first two games are at home before classes begin in San Luis Obispo.

With all the rumblings of conference movement, out West we likely will be seeing some movement in the FCS ranks.

I personally don't think any are really ready to move up, including Montana (as they would need to add 2 sports to move football up to the FBS ranks), but the temptation of higher revenue will most likely be too great to stop schools from going forward.
