The CAA Today: A Titanic Problem

Attachment 864100 years ago, the Titanic struck an iceberg on a starless April night. Most of the passengers on board felt something, but weren't too alarmed as there was no immediate distress on-board. However, the smart passengers headed for the early lifeboats and got comfortably away early. Those who waited were left to fend for fewer and fewer spots, with many left to simply fend for themselves. Given recent events, could the CAA and its members be heading for a similar fate?
Size: ">Attachment 863I could say the hibernation is over, but the winter and early spring have been too busy to say that. All I know is it’s time to get back to some columns on the football programs of the Southern and Big South conferences.
The place where I’ll start is the calendar – the fall calendar, that is. All of the SoCon schedules are out, so I’ll begin with those nine teams. The following are some of my thoughts on the schedules followed by each team’s 2012 slate.<br

I had just began writing for what is now classified as the FCS ranks back in 2004 after previously writing on the Division II ranks.

My first column for what was then i-aa.org was on the new western football conference that looked as if it was going to begin in January of that year—what as of last year became the defunct football league of the Great

Size: ">Attachment 861The ‘National Signing Day’ or formally, ‘National Letter of Intent Day’ is one of the most exciting days of the year. Football programs around the country are hoping to sign student-athletes that will perform on and off the field representing their institution of higher learning. This is also the case for black college (HBCU) programs.
