Catching Up on SLC Training Camps

The Southland Conference is nearing the opening kickoff of the 2010 season.

As we make our way to the start of another year of SLC football, there has already been plenty of news emanating from two-a-days around the eight football-playing members of the league and 2011 newcomer Lamar.

UCA Gets Full Membership, Moses and Possibly Others on National Award Lists

The process is over for Central Arkansas.

The NCAA informed the school thsi week that they have gained full NCAA Division I membership. With those privledges in place, the school can begin competing in postseason competition and garner Southland Conference Championships.

Louisiana Schools Could Feel Pinch & Plenty of SLC Notes

In perhaps one of the bigger stories of the off-season, several schools in the Southland Conference could soon face a financial pinch. Unlike college realignment, the final result of this situation could play out sooner than later.

In the months' ahead, the four SLC schools based in Louisiana will be contemplating how to deal with an expected 23 percent cut to higher education during the 2011-12 fiscal year.

The impact on the schools' athletic departments are not known

For the second time in several months, UTSA has taken a key member of the Texas State football team.

A few months after hiring offensive coordinator Travis Bush away from Brad Wright's staff, it being reported by UTSATailgaters.com that quarterback Eric Soza will also join the Roadrunners.

Southland Ultimatum – The First Shot Fired in NCAA Realignment?

After months of speculation since UT-San Antonio announced that they were bypassing the Southland Conference as a football-playing institution, the jury of peers that is the SLC has made their judgment.

At the recently completed SLC meetings held in Galveston, Texas - the league decided that all members must participate in SLC sports for which they sponsor.
