North Dakota State dominates Delaware State 51-0
FARGO, N.D. -- Brock Jensen threw three touchdowns on 138 yards passing as top-ranked North Dakota State rolled past Delaware State 51-0 on Saturday.
The Bison (3-0) did not disappoint with the ESPN College GameDay crew in town, as the two-time defending FCS champions improved to 31-2 since the start of the 2011 season with the win against the Hornets (0-3). The victory made head coach Craig Bohl the all-time leader in wins at North Dakota State, improving to 92-32 during his tenure.
All of Jensen's work came in the first half, as he was replaced after the Bison built a 41-0 second-quarter lead.
North Dakota State racked up 548 yards of total offense compared with 189 for Delaware State. The Bison rushed for 305 yards as a team, led by 85 yards rushing from John Crockett.
North Dakota State held Delaware State to 34 yards rushing.
Balanced Towson scores 35-17 win vs. N.C. Central
DURHAM, N.C. -- Terrance West rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns in No. 3 Towson's 35-17 win against North Carolina Central on Saturday.
West, who had 31 carries, got help from Darius Victor, who punched in two more rushing touchdowns on just six carries in what was expected to be a defensive duel. Instead, Towson (4-0) moved the ball in a balanced rushing and passing attack, while shutting down the N.C. Central (2-2) ground game, holding the Eagles to just 2 yards rushing.
The Tigers also scored on a 9-yard pass from Peter Athens to James Oboh.
Unable to move the ball on the ground, N.C. Central took to the air. Jordan Reid, who had 292 yards passing, connected with Marvin Poole for a 21-yard touchdown in the first quarter and Thomas Dixon for a 40-yard touchdown in the fourth.
Towson's defense hasn't allowed a rushing touchdown this season.
Nebraska routs South Dakota State 59-20
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Tommy Armstrong Jr. and Ron Kellogg III combined to pass for 305 yards, Ameer Abdullah ran for a career-high 139 yards and Nebraska shook off No. 6 South Dakota State in the second quarter in a 59-20 victory Saturday.
Nebraska (3-1), which finished with 645 yards, scored 38 consecutive points after falling behind 17-14 in the first quarter against the Jackrabbits (3-1).
SDSU's Zach Zenner ran for 202 yards, tied for 10th-most by a Nebraska opponent, and the Jackrabbits finished with 465 total yards and 25 first downs.
South Dakota State, which hosts two-time defending FCS champion North Dakota State at home next week, dropped to 0-6 against FBS opponents since elevating its program from Division II in 2004.
Northern Iowa rolls past Northern Colorado 32-7
GREELEY, Colo. -- Sawyer Kollmorgen led No. 7 Northern Iowa to a runaway 32-7 win against Northern Colorado on Saturday, throwing for 242 yards and a touchdown.
Kollmorgen connected with Chad Owens for a 7-yard touchdown late in the first quarter to give Northern Iowa (3-0) a lead it would hold against Northern Colorado (1-3) for the rest of the game.
Darius Graham cut Northern Colorado's deficit to 13-7 in the third quarter with a 4-yard touchdown run. But Northern Iowa responded on the following possession with an 86-yard scoring drive, culminating in an 18-yard touchdown run by David Johnson. Johnson finished with 121 yards rushing, while Tyler Sievertson kicked four field goals and Diondre Hall returned a fourth-quarter interception 40 yards for a touchdown.
Northern Colorado's offense struggled. Tim Tancik, who threw for 209 yards, was picked off twice by the Panthers. Tromaine Dennis rushed for 71 yards on 15 carries.
