They are looking at other numbers as football scholarship decision looms
He wasn’t making excuses, but Lehigh University football coach Andy Coen couldn’t avoid the topic either.
In his postgame press conference at the University of New Hampshire on Saturday, Coen was lamenting the number of mistakes his team made in a 31-10 loss and then added, “You’re not going to beat many teams doing the things we did today, especially when you’re playing a team with 63 scholarships and you have none.”
The issue of scholarships has been on the mind of Patriot League coaches for several seasons now. They don’t dwell on it, and they like the kids they have, but they know it’s definitely an obstacle when they match up with talented programs stocked with scholarship players.
